Activated Charcoal — Directions for Use:
General intestinal distress and gas: Stir one tablespoon of activated
charcoal in a glass of water. Take up to six times daily. (Children: 1/2
tablespoon.) Follow with a second glass of water. Note: Activated charcoal is
best when taken 2 hours before or after a meal.
Diarrhea: Stir one tablespoon of activated charcoal in a glass of water
upon notice of first complaint and again with each bowel movement. Follow with a
second glass of water. Note: Stool darkening is normal and may continue for a
few days after use.
Red, painful, or swollen skin: Wash area thoroughly. Mix activated
charcoal with water to form thick paste. Spread paste onto paper towel and then
fold in half. Position over afflicted area for 10–15 minutes or until swelling
and pain stops. Repeat as necessary.
CAUTION: Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not for long-term internal use. Contact your physician to determine if activated charcoal may be taken with your current medication(s). Avoid applying activated charcoal directly to open wounds.
